"Fashion" Television

Now that I’m a grown up with a house, lately our money gets spent on housey things. Suddenly, clothes and accessories are no longer the top "to buy" items on my list. But it doesn't keep me from being interested in the season's "must haves". And my monthly InStyle magazine just doesn't scratch the itch. So, I find myself living vicariously through the plethora of Fashionistas on TV. With the new fall television season in full swing, I can't help but be glued to a few favorites.

Exhibit 1: Gossip Girl
(CW Mondays @ 8pm)

How can you help but love the DARING choices made by these Manhattan ladies? It’s kind of like Sex and the City: the Early Years. I'd probably never have the guts (or $$$) to pull these looks off, but it doesn't stop me from drooling and stealing little inspirations here and there.

Leighton Meester plays "Blair Waldorf" and she is my absolute favorite. Blair is the queen of preppy chic. She's feminine and sexy without baring it all. PLUS, she's beautifully, pasty white. Or perhaps I should say she has the skin of a porcelain doll.

The show's costume designer, Eric Daman is a genius. Love it, love it, and love it.

Exhibit 2: The Hills
(MTV Mondays 10pm)

All the way on the other coast reside the lovely ladies of The Hills. While the content of the show is typically cringe worthy, the hair, clothes and accessories are amazing! Season after season these life sized Barbie dolls prance around la la land decked out in the most fabulous fashion.

The show centers on the beautiful Lauren Conrad. I don't always agree with her choices when it comes to friends or lovers... But her clothes are to die for. And the beauty of The Hills is that it is reality television. Perhaps there is a stylist helping these gorgeous young women ~ Lauren in particular. But, I’m not sure that is necessarily true. Lauren has an ease about her look. She looks impeccably put together with a bit of a trendy edge. Love it, love it, and love it.

Lipstick Jungle & The Rachel Zoe project offer hope for more fashion feasts this season. Can't wait to watch and dream.
