Dog Farts

Twice - TWO times - last week Spike was dead asleep, let out an audible fart that woke him up and then barked at whatever it was that had just disturbed him.

Juvenile humor? Perhaps.  Funny as all get out? Undoubtedly.

An Empty Google Reader

My blog backlog had gotten out of control!  On Wednesday night after reading as many posts as I could, I clicked "mark all items as read" and started with a clean slate.  I cannot tell you how freeing it felt.  Why on Earth did I wait so long to do that?  From now on, I intend to use that sanity saving button at the end of my reading each day and I pledge not to feel guilty about it.

The Weather

Today I was able to run at 11am - that's smack dab in the middle of the day, people - and it was glorious.  The sun was shining, there was a breeze and I wasn't blinded by sweat in my eyes the minute I stepped out of the car due to heat and humidity.  I'm not going to call it perfection, but I'm not going to stop you if that's what you want to call it.

I read this lovely quote (which accompanied an even lovelier picture) on Everton Terrace early this morning.  It just kind of started my day off right.  Don't you love when that happens?  You simply must go over and visit Jeanette's blog if you haven't already.  Her she read, she saw... feature is pure brilliance.

Manure

During my run today, their were grounds people out spreading manure. Manure is kind of a necessary evil, isn't it?  As I experienced the smell I found myself identifying with the plants.  Sometimes you gotta push through some shit to get to the light.

You Will NOT have Bad Luck if You Don't Read This Post

This morning I opened my inbox to find a chain letter from my sweet sister. Typically, I’m not a chain letter type of gal, but the prayer that was included was too lovely not to notice. The email claims the prayer was written by Saint Theresa. Theresa is known as the Saint of the Little Ways. Apparently she believed in doing the little things in life well and with great love. I like that.

Please be aware, I don’t share this in the hopes that you will send it to 23 of your closest friends email contacts. I don’t suggest that you make a wish before praying or wait for the proverbial pot of gold that will come as a result of reciting and forwarding this prayer.  Do it if you need to, I'm just sayin'.  But, I do hope these words are comforting, encouraging and as special as they were to me. (forgive that grammatically, it’s kind of a mess… Apparently, Theresa needed an editor as badly as I do!)

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be confident knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
His GRACE is there for each and every one of his children.

oooh, how I wish this hadn't been (& wasn't) true in my own life...
Am I the only silly, stubborn one who has to learn by first falling on her face? Anyone else figure out what to do, by being the example of what NOT to do?

Is there anybody out there who learns from other's mistakes or takes other's advice the FIRST time?

And if so, what's that like?
