The Puppy - Chapter 3

Panic has set in.

We pick him up in less than an hour, and I’m freaking out. I know that millions of people across the world are dog owners. I know that we researched and calmly discussed this decision. We are two grown adults, fully capable of caring for a 5-pound fluff ball. But, I’m having a bit of a panic attack.

I'm worried we are going to break him. I'm worried that we won't train him properly. I'm worried because I have no clue what I’m doing. What if he doesn't even like us? What if we totally regret this decision?

This is a big commitment we're making, and I’m a bit nervous. Today it finally seems totally real. We are in charge of this fragile little life. We are responsible for growing him and nurturing him and loving him. Why does this seem so huge?

Holy cow, what have we signed on for?????

You have signed on for a wonderful chapter in your life. Puppies are second only to babies....They love you unconditionally, and in less than 24 hours, I promise you, you will wonder how you ever lived without him. Enjoy this...it is so worthwhile.

Congratulations!!! You have just sealed the deal on a whole new relationship. You will receive so much more than you give in this relationship. I agree that you will be amazed at how quickly and deeply you become attached.
"Unconditional love" is the very essence of a dog, regardless of the breed or the weight! Can't wait for you both to experience this.
