Golden Globes Wrap Up - 2010 Edition

Ummm, when did the Hollywood Foreign Press morph into a group of adolescent boys? The Hangover and Avatar? Really? Who was voting? Don't get me wrong the Hangover was funny... And Avatar was pretty... But to say those 2 movies were the best 2009 had to offer is stretching it from where I sit.

When it comes right down to it, I'm not so sure I agree with the winners in the film acting categories, either. Sandra Bullock said it best herself when she thanked her costume, hair & makeup team, "It was a transformation from the outside in." Her performance was indeed entertaining, but the BEST of any woman, all year? And Robert Downey, Jr., you know I couldn't love him more but I'm not sure his turn in Sherlock Holmes was award worthy. And I'm just going to say it. Does anyone else kind of feel like if Meryl Streep shows up to film a movie she's automatically nominated for an award? Granted she is immensely talented and her award may be debatable, but suffice it say, I was surprised when her name was called. Thankfully the Academolly Awards are just around the corner, so proper recognition can be bestowed upon those who truly earned their keep in the films of 2009. I will have my say! Now, as far as the television award portion of the night, they were understandable at least. And three cheers for Ricky Gervais. He's a trip. Nicely played Mr. Gervais.

Now, on to the stuff that really matters, the fashion.

Last night's red carpet, (despite the rain) was not disappointing fashionwise.

Kate Hudson's Marchesa gown was architecturally stunning. But my favorite part of her ensemble were the earrings which are a part of the Stephen Russell Contemporary Collection. Check here for an even closer look.

Zoe Saldana was a stunner in her deep berry tiered Louis Vuitton gown. Brava, Ms. Saldana.

I found January Jones' Lanvin to be edgy, current and daring despite it's basic black. Love, love, love the red lips. She's too gorge for words.

Meanwhile, Dianna Agron takes my breath away in this Reem Acra work of art. Have I mentioned how stinking much I love Reem Acra??

It took me a minute to recognize Sofia Vergara. Typically so overdone on Modern Family (which by the way, you SHOULD be watching!) she looked TOTALLY fresh faced and radiant. Her grey and cranberry Carolina Herrera was elegant, modern and quite probably my favorite gown of the evening.

When it came to hair and makeup I fell head over heels for Lea Michele. Her makeup was soft and understated while her hair was lovely and I just may be stealing the style for my next bridesmaid gig.

Like I said, the fashion last night did not disappoint. Some Honorable Mentions in the dress category are: Jennifer Garner, Lea Michele, Marion Cotillard & Sandra Bullock

What a great way to kick off red carpet season!

I was thrilled Sandra Bullock won, but otherwise the globes were a let down!
