The 3rd (?) Most Glamorous Night in Hollywood

Let's be honest... the Emmy's probably aren't the biggest night for Hollywood fashion (Golden Globes or the Oscars definitely take that prize) but they sure are fun - especially for TV junkies like myself!!

Last night's telecast wasn't all that special. The hosts were incredibly bad and the awards weren't surprising. Jeremy Pivens for a third year in a row? Really? But the fashion was impressive. Not everyone took chances, but a few really pushed the envelope. Bravo to the celebrity designers and stylists. From start to finish, the amazing looks made up for the uncomfortable and pointless 30 second interviews that are pre-show coverage. At least Joan Rivers retired, right?

My favorite of the evening was Christina Applegate. This Reem Acra masterpiece was a standout. It was dramatic, amazingly tailored and hit two of the evenings big trends (one shoulder & metallic/gilded fabric). Applegate's hair and make-up were flawless and the kimo-esque train was so unique. Applegate wasn't the only beauty sporting a Reem Acra work of art. Lisa Rinna also wore my new favorite designer's work. Olivia Wilde and Lisa Edelstein's choices also make me wonder if Ms. Acra makes House calls. ba-dum-bump

Sandra Oh sparkled in Oscar de la Renta. It was sexy, unexpected and despite being a basic black, it was totally daring. What I loved was the confidence with which she wore this lovely piece. Another example of one of the evening's trends, this lace number still managed to be a true stand out.

I also loved Brooke Shields, Marcia Cross , Holly Hunter & of course the lovely Miss Lauren Conrad (who was wearing her own design!!).

All in all, I found it to be a wonderful start to the awards season and I'm looking forward to many more star studded, fashionista friendly evenings on the red carpet to come.

House calls. I get it...funny stuff, as always, well written, and I agree, with Whitney. Sell this stuff, not every one can put it like our Molly can. There has to be a paper there in po dunk that needs a great blog writer. We have one here, and you are like mirror image writers. LOVED IT. Thanks doll. (well, except the Lauren Conrad part.........really?
