Daily(s)mile

{image credit again}

Well, I'm three weeks into the whole running thing and I seem to be liking it more and more each time I head out. I still find myself most motivated right after I finish the run. Endorphins, perhaps? A sense of accomplishment, maybe? Delirious exhaustion, perchance? Whichever it is I'm feeling like this hobby might actually stick.

Part of the fun that I'm experiencing is due, in part, to that little do-hicky (technical term, sorry to talk over some of your heads…) in the middle column associated with a super fun social network for runners. Dailymile allows the user to track their training, count how many donuts they’ve burned in a week (I'm being dead serious – it counts calories by donuts. It’s super cute) and send encouragement to their friends. I'm pretty much in love with this website.

I can’t take the credit for finding it all on my own. I saw a little do-hicky on Three Birds a favorite blog of mine – who also, coincidentally, was the winner of Summer Fashion Week. So, I owe Chelsea a HUMONGOUS hug for discovering it. That hug I promise to deliver long after I’ve cooled down and cleaned up from the maaaaajorly sweaty and stankified runs that I’ve endured thus far.

Now, here’s the only itty bitty downside. Dailymile would be much more fun if all the runners that I know used it. Being the ultra-competitive social creature that I am, I'm motivated by the accomplishments of others. It would be really awesome to see how YOUR runs are going and to be able to cheer you on toward whatever training goal you might have. So, what do you say? Want to join up and play along? Don't worry, it’s not a site JUST for runners.  So don’t let that stop you. If you’re a biker, hiker, walker, dancer or active in many ways you can track your progress using this site.

Here’s what I'm thinking. If you’re reading this blog I can guess that you share at least one of the following characteristics:
1. You’re Internet Savvy
2. You’re Interested in Social Networking
3. I’ve influenced you to read my blog so maybe you’re open to another Suggestion
4. You like to be Encouraged and to Cheer others on

So, I'm thinking any one of those + an active lifestyle means you are the PERFECT person to get your butt over to http://www.dailymile.com/ and join in the fun. Once you get there, make sure to friend me so that I can send you lots of motivation and marvel over all the television sets you’ve powered (that’s another thing it tracks) with your workout energy!
